We are human producers of technology and are committed to thriving natural environments and genuine human connection, built on kindness toward ourselves and others.
Commitment Statement 1.0
People, communities and natural environments have been harmed and are suffering because of capitalism-driven demands on technology for value extraction. As the people that build technology, we have experienced the isolation and sense of emptiness that can arise when our skills and energy are devoted to building evermore meaningless products and systems. We know that antidotes to this include spending time in nature and in genuine human connection with ourselves and others.
As human producers of technology, we are committed to:
cultivating a friendly and attuned relationship with our own minds
venerating nature as powerful, vulnerable and curative
understanding that technology is a useful tool not a directive, thereby avoiding the proliferation of technological pollution, debt and junk
building technology that furthers positive social transformation and mutualism
respecting both users and builders of technology as living human beings, each of whom wishes and deserves to live a healthy and fulfilled life
prioritizing opportunities to do purposeful work
using the technology we build as a medium for treating each other and ourselves well
carefully refraining from causing harm by releasing shoddy code and implementing misguided designs
valuing the importance of genuine, human connection and fostering trusting, interdependent and joyful human relationships in our communities
having the work we do be informed by integrity, knowledge and humor

Who We Are
We are Dojo4, a small tech agency co-operative in Boulder, Colorado. Although this topic has been near and dear to us for many years, this initiative is a first iteration. It is part of how we are bringing meaning to our work. We are not experts, but do want to host a conversation.
